Dia quatro

At our usual time I wake bij the surf or AC. Alas no blue sky, but its dry & partly clouded. Breakfast at the restaurant afte a complicated procedure with tickets we halve to collect fist somewhere. Breakfast is acceptable. At 8h we leave for Cahuita Beach and await what lies ahead of us. During the drive we spot our 1st capuchino monkeys. Cahuita too is onde big reggae & calypso village. In a touristic activities shed we leave the snorklers (half the pack). The rest goes for teh hike through the Cahuita National Park being a peninsula. An autodidactic reggae guide tries to be our guide and points us our first highlight amarillo poison snake and sloths. The walk is parallel to the beach. Ti 's very difficult to distinguish animals in the hundres of shades of green, brown, yello & red. You don'tknow whether to focus on ht ebig game (monkeys or sloths) or the small stuff like insects, snakes, or the inbetweenies. Very slowly we cover 2km in about 2 hrs. It's beautiful, but my back aches as if being shopping for 4 hours. In the end the sore appears to be acceptable. 2 kinds of monkeys, the two and the threetoed sloths, 2 inds of snakes, giant crickets & millipods, butterflies, chipmunk and the briljant 'Jesus walks on Water' lizard, small lizards, crabs, etc. The last catch - snake - can anly be sighted from a standingpoint right on a ants-nest. So it's big fun seeing people jumping up and down and slapping their legs to get rid of the tiny but ferocious biting ants. I must admit... so did I. On the way back we meet our snorkler division, who have been dropped on teh beah somewhere behind us.. They too saw nice things (sharks, stingray). Only problem was the guide. He behaved like a german bouncer. After a complaint (we 're Dutch aren't we??) the office manager excused the man personally in the bus. For lunch we drive a little bit deeper into the jungle suburbs of Cahuita. There we find the Lady' commissioned restaurant that serves special rice & beans (??!!). I couldnt taste the difference . Simone didn't even try. But we liked the moment of rest for our backs. Serving the food took some time (fish was ordered and fetched by a quod-guy??), but that did'nt matter. Plenty of time for the first evaluations.
Sim and I watched some tourist passing byhorsebackriding. The horses seemed to walk unconsciously. If this is the way of horsebackriding here we probably wont do that this holliday.
Then off to our hotel. We 're too late for a fast visit to the jaquar sanctuary... feeding time.... alas.... maybe later somewhere. We spot a few toekans on the way back very high in the tree. God bless the eagle-eyes of Manuel. Also we pass a dead tree loaded with woodpecker holes (homes?). Several were inhabited. The briefing is again chaotic because of Lady is very cute presenting the program options. The result is that we drive to ur next location bt wil be interrupted by doing a rafting experience (or Kermit watching). The ocmplete bunch decides to have diner in town. Sim & I decide to have diner in the hotel...... I have no idea what time it is. So I doze off. At 7.30h Sim wakes me up. We make up for diner and off we go. We pass a sort of dark lobby(open air), and reach the complete dark restaurant.... CLOSED....??!! Surprised we look at each other. Back to our room. We share the dry cookies and chewing gum, and the water and we go for another early night. We hope the rest has more luck and fun.
